Njabulo Ngcobo Grateful for Playing in Defence in DSTV Compact Cup Triumph! The Amakhosi defender has been deployed in a number of roles this season.
Njabulo Ngcobo was part of the Warriors FC squad which won the inaugural DSTV Compact Cup last weekend. He played the two matches in his preferred central defence position.
Ngcobo, last season’s DSTV Premiership Defender of the Season, was voted into the Warriors FC squad by supporters nationwide. Dylan Kerr played him in centre back.
Since joining Kaizer Chiefs at the beginning of the campaign, he has featured mostly as a central defensive midfielder, under Stuart Baxter. He has fared ok in that role.
Even for Bafana Bafana, under Hugo Broos, he has played as a central defensive midfielder.
“I thank the supporters for voting for me, I am really happy to see that they believed in me. The experience was good, mixing with players from other teams helped me learn a lot,” Ngcobo told the Kaizer Chiefs website.
“Those two games were special for me. I have not played much as a defender this season and it was very important for me to play in that role again.
“I did well over the two games and there is still room for improvement for me in my game,
“In these kinds of situations, like when you at the national team, you learn from different players. Happy Jele was playing alongside me and I took a lot from the experience.
“When you play with guys who have been around for a long time you try to learn as much as you can. I am happy to have given my best and gained from it,” he added.
With domestic football returning this weekend, he will hope to continue playing in his preferred position. Njabulo Ngcobo Grateful for Playing in Defence in DSTV Compact Cup Triumph!
