Our Nominees for coach of the season.
With the PSL season coming to an end, we have decided to pick three candidates for coach of the season. The decision is based on their teams performances throughout the season. Gavin Hunt, Eric Tinkler and Pitso Mosimane, and this is why.
1. Gavin Hunt
Hunt guided Bidvest Wits to a double this season. Wits walked away with the MTN 8 Cup and the Absa Premiership title in what was probably their best season thus far. Wits sat at the summit of the league for the majority of the season, exchanging the spot from time to time with other contenders. Gavin Hunt also walked away with a number of awards for coach of the month.
2. Eric Tinkler
At the beginning of the season it seemed as if Tinkler had been sent to the dustbin of history after Orlando Pirates replaced him with Mushin Etrugal, while Tinkler moved in the opposite direction heading to the newly formed Cape Town City FC. Tinkler was able to guide the team to the Telkom Knockout title and a third place finish.
3. Pitso Mosimane
After a successful and hectic season, Mosimane’s team were nonetheless still competitive. Reaching the MTN 8 Cup Final and challenging for league honors while juggling continental duties.
