Orlando Pirates Release 8 Players! The club announced the player release this morning in a club statement. Following the new arrivals f Deon Hotto and Thulani Hlatshwayo, there was always going to be departures at Orlando Pirates. The club has released players who were struggling to break into the first team.
Orlando Pirates have only made 2 acquisitions this transfer window, but have already reached their squad limit. The Buccaneers released a total of 8 players this morning. Players that haven’t broken into the first team have been deemed surplus to requirements.
With coach Josef Zinnbauer electing a more youthful approach, all players that were preventing youth players from breaking into the first team have been released.
On the list are the likes of Tercious Malepe and Xola Mlambo. Mlambo, a league winner with Bidvest Wits in 2016/17, is one of the surprising names on the list.
Mlambo had formed a formidable midfield partnership with Musa Nyatama. The duo, under Milutin Srejedovic and Rulani Mokwena tussled with Sundowns till the very end for the 2017/2018 PSL title.
Mlambo has since struggled to break into the Pirates first team once again.
