It was determined on the 8th of March that Patrice Motsepe would be sworn in as the new CAF President. The Mamelodi Sundowns owner successfully brushed off opponents Augustine Senghor, Jacques Anouma and Ahmed Yaya.
All candidates withdrew their candidacy and will now serve as vice presidents to Motsepe. His induction also saw the amount of vice-presidents grow from 3 to 5.
Gianni Infantino, FIFA President, was present and addressed members at the proceedings.
“If Africa wins, the world wins” Infantino said.
Patrice Motsepe will begin his 4-year term after being sworn in, in Rabat, Morocco.
