Kaizer Chiefs Struggle to Find Form as Winless Run Extends to Six Games

Kaizer Chiefs continue to face difficulties in domestic competitions, going six matches without a win across all local tournaments. Their latest outing at FNB Stadium saw them held to a 0-0 draw by struggling Siwelele FC, leaving fans and stakeholders frustrated with the Soweto giants’ lack of consistency.
Prior to the match, Chiefs had already gone four Premier Soccer League games without a win. Expectations were high for a home victory against Siwelele, but the visitors’ defensive resilience and some key saves from goalkeeper Brandon Petersen ensured the points were shared. Petersen’s performance prevented a potential defeat and kept the Glamour Boys from slipping further down the table.
Despite recent signings and a strong start to the season with four consecutive wins, Chiefs have struggled to convert chances and maintain coordination on the field. Co-coach Cedric Kaze acknowledged the team’s shortcomings, citing their inability to be clinical in front of goal.
“These kinds of games, we had the opportunities to score, but we do not have to play good every day, but to just put the ball in the net and then wait for the next game,” Kaze said. “Unfortunately, we do not seem to be clinical, lucky in front of the net, but we have to keep working, and I am pretty sure that it will come. Football has its miseries.”
Kaze noted that while Siwelele sit low on the log, they have proven difficult to break down, often losing narrowly in previous matches. “We were controlling the game, and we have to do better definitely,” he added.
The draw comes ahead of a critical CAF Confederation Cup clash. Chiefs will host AS Simba in the second leg of the second preliminary round at Dobsonville Stadium. The first leg ended 0-0, meaning any victory will see Chiefs advance to the group stage.
With pressure mounting, Kaze and co-coach Khalil Ben Youssef know that anything less than a win could lead to changes within the technical team. Chiefs now face a crucial period to stabilize their form, regain confidence, and convert domestic dominance into positive results.
Kaizer Chiefs’ immediate challenge is clear: address inefficiencies in front of goal, tighten coordination on the pitch, and deliver results to satisfy supporters and maintain their status as one of South Africa’s top clubs.
