CONFIRMED: Kaizer Chiefs Sign Yusuf Maart

Kaizer Chiefs have secured the services of Yusuf Maart who signed from Sekhukhune United. The 26-year-old put pen to paper on a three-year deal and Amakhosi hold an option of extending the contract for two years.

Chiefs have been chasing Maart for a long time now and went all out to bring the box-to-box midfielder that will be of help both defensively and offensively. Maart was a regular at Babina Noko as he missed only one match of the league’s 30.

“Kaizer Chiefs have signed Yusuf Moegamat Maart on a three-year deal with a two-year option,” Chiefs said in the statement.

“Maart arrives from Sekhukhune FC where he spent two seasons in the GladAfrica Championship and DStv Premiership. He played a total of 29 matches in the season that has just ended and scored three goals for Babina Noko.

“The midfielder’s club performances have earned him nine national team call-ups between 2021 and 2022, and he is now a regular in the Bafana Bafana set-up.

“Maart will join the team for preseason training this week,” the statement added.

Maart is also now a Bafana Bafana player whom Hugo Broos believes in as he’s building a young squad. He was part of the team that recently lost to Morocco in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

Chiefs have already made crucial signings ahead of the upcoming campaign of 2022/23 DStv Premiership as they continue to reconstruct a squad for the newly appointed coach Arthur Zwane. Ashley Du Preez and Zitha Kwinika were the first names to be announced as Kaizer Chiefs signings from Stellenbosch in April but were officially unveiled on Monday.

Siyethemba Sithebe signed a pre-contract with Amakhosi in January and will officially join the team in July when his contract with AmaZulu has ended. Sithebe spent six months not playing after AmaZulu ditched him as they were not happy about the way Chiefs and the Newcastle-born midfielder handled things.
