Mahlambi’s struggles with injury have plighted his stint at Chloorkop. He hopes to regain his form at AmaZulu.
Mahlambi joins former Chippa United goalkeeper Veli Mothwa at AmaZulu. Both arrivals were unveiled today.
Mahlambi was rumoured to join the KZN club before the transfer was officially confirmed by the club.
“A deal was agreed very late on Monday and AmaZulu are expected to announce him [on Tuesday]. Sundowns have signed a lot of good attacking players who have done well so far this season and he has dropped down the pecking order.” A club insider told TimesLIVE.
“Hopefully this move will help him resurrect his career because he hasn’t played much football since he returned from Egypt,” the insider added on.
Sundowns also loaned out Nyiko Mobbie and Luvuyo Phewa to Chippa United. A large summer clear-out was expected at the club.
Sundowns signed over 10 players in the transfer window. They already had quite a large and talented squad.
Other expected summer clear-outs include the likes of Anthony Laffor, Tiyani Mabunda and Riyaad Pieterse.
Mahlambi joins the likes of Luvuyo Memela, Augustine Mulenga and Siphiwe Tshabalala at the club. Veli Mothwa will compete with club captain Mbatha for the goalkeeping spot at the club.
