MABASA ON WHAT IRRITATED HIM AT PIRATES

Orlando Pirates on-loan striker Tshegofatso Mabasa has uncovered what made him angry at Buccaneers before he joined Sekhukhune United last month. According to Soccer Laduma, ex-Bloemfontein Celtic striker refuses to admit the idea that he failed at Pirates and is unhappy with how things turned out last season.

Mabasa says one thing that annoyed him during his stay at the Soweto giants was the limited game time, particularly last season.

“I still thought I’ve got plenty of years to go at the club and that I still had a lot to give, given the chance to. I’m happy with my contribution during the first season and obviously disappointed with how last season panned out,” Mabasa told Soccer Laduma in the latest edition.

“The lack of opportunities to play last season… that’s pretty much the only thing I can say is bugging me from my time at Pirates. I wouldn’t sup up my time at Pirates as a failure, not at all. Personally, perhaps a bit disappointed with how it turned out, but I wouldn’t say I let myself down in any way.

“I did the best that I could given everything that was happening around me and the team. I honestly tried my best, and that’s what I’ve always strived to do for whichever team I’ve turned out for.

In his stint with the Sea Robbers since 2019, Mabasa found the back of the net on 18 occasions in 65 appearances. Not so bad.

‘I WANT TO ENJOY MY FOOTBALL’ – MABASA

The 25-year-old is longing for a start 2022/23 season as he promised to bang goals for Babina Noko.

“It’s an honour to be part of this growing club,” he told the club’s media department. “What the supporters can expect from me is definitely dedication and scoring goals as well and most importantly for me to enjoy my football.

“I am grateful to the chairman for the opportunity he has given me and the warm welcome I have received from the other players, the technical team and the coaches. I have enjoyed it so much. What the supporters can expect from us this season like we have been saying, turning our loses into draws, our draws to wins and achieve more wins going into the new season and finish as high as possible in the league,” he added.
