[PICTURE] Bongani Zungu Hangs Out With His Toddler

As Diski365 reported last month that Bongani Zungu and Cindy Mahlangu confirmed that they share a baby, it appears the father has been spending some time with his bundle of joy. Zungu has come back to South Africa after he parted ways with Amiens SC at the end of last month.

WHAT NOW FOR ZUNGU?

Amiens SC recently revealed that discussions were held between the club and Bongani Zungu but it appears he wanted to move. They also had to move on after learning that the player was interested in other options he had.

‘Ben 10’ as he’s affectionately known has been the subject of transfer news in South Africa since January. Apparently, Kaizer Chiefs attempted to make him sign a pre-contract in January this year so they would get him free in July but that one didn’t materialize.

Amiens sporting director John Williams confirmed that there were talks with the former Mamelodi Sundowns player’s representatives. “We asked the question but he had other aspirations, so we decided to move on,” Williams said, per the French publication Gazette Sports France.

Zungu joined Amiens in 2017 from the Portuguese side Victoria Guimaraes after playing just 19 games for them. In 2020, he was loaned to Rangers where he was mentored by Steven Gerrard who’s now managing Aston Villa.

ZUNGU TO RETURN TO SUNDOWNS?

His former club Sundowns are believed to have launched a bid for him and last month he confirmed that they’re the only local outfit to have contacted his agent. “I met president Motsepe the other year and he told me Sundowns will always be home,” he said on Metro FM Sports Night Amplified with Andile Ncube.

“So Sundowns will always be my home, no matter what happens from now until when I make my decision on where I’m gonna play. Sundowns is the only team that spoke to my agent and they are speaking to my agent still. Others are trying to [as well].”

When Ncube asked him about Chiefs’ rumours, he said, “I’m a top player, of course teams are going to try and find out what’s your situation and all. My phone is open, I’m listening to [offers].”

Zungu added that he wants a long-term deal that will be the last contract of his football career. “I’m very calm. As I said earlier, this is a very, very important part of my football career. For me, I want it to be maybe my last contract of my career,” he added.
