Chelsea FC striker Pierre Emerick Aubameyang retired from international football after a shaky relationship with the Gabon FA. He has however, decided to return to the national team.
Auba made his international debut as a youngster in 2009. He has gone on to 30 goals in 72 appearances for Gabon.
President of Gabon, Ali Bongo Ondimba is credited with being the biggest influence on the return on the striker to the national team.
“A few days ago, I had the immense honour to be received by the President of the Republic (of Gabon) Ali Bongo Ondimba and at the same time listened to the wise words he said to me as a father talking to his son.
“Following this, I therefore put myself at the disposal of my country and of the coach Patrice Neveu with whom of course we exchanged. Panther once a panther always” Aubameyang posted on his Instagram account.
La Liga Winner
The Chelsea FC striker will receive a winners’ medal in La Liga after FC Barcelona won the championship. This is after he had played eight minutes of their opening match against Rayo Vallecano.
He transferred to Chelsea soon after that match. In La Liga, the eight minutes he played are enough to garner him with a winners’ medal.
