Bafana Bafana have the opportunity to qualify for AFCON during the current international break. Pitso Mosimane believes the national team will fulfil this quest.

Mosimane made these claims before South Africa drew 2-2 at home to Liberia on Friday night. They now need to claim all three points away to the same opposition on Tuesday if they are to make it.

Coach Pitso spoke well on the influence of head coach Hugo Broos.

“I think we’ll qualify for the AFCON. We only need four points. And I have watched Liberia play against Morocco. It was when I was in Morocco. We will do well and qualify,” said Mosimane, who was the Bafana head coach between 2010 and 2012.

“I think coach Broos has done well by unveiling the young players at the beginning, although it is a little bit different now with the Themba Zwane’s there, which is good.”

Hugo Broos was announced as head coach in 2021, after Molefi Ntseki failed to lead the nation to the 2022 AFCON in Cameroon. Since his appointment, he has been very outspoken about the quality of football in the PSL, among other things.

“But that is his own personality and philosophy, and how he looks at our country. I don’t want to go much into it,” he added.
