Pitso Mosimane Tipped as Leading Candidate for Zamalek Head Coach Role
South African coaching icon Pitso Mosimane is reportedly emerging as a frontrunner to take the reins at North African giants Zamalek SC ahead of the 2025/26 season.
Mosimane, 60, has been without a club since parting ways with Iranian outfit Esteghlal FC earlier this year, following a wage dispute that brought an abrupt end to his tenure. Now, with African clubs reshaping their technical setups for the new campaign, Mosimane’s name has surfaced once again—this time linked to one of Egypt’s most prestigious teams.
Zamalek, who finished the last season under interim coach Ayman El-Ramady, are said to be actively searching for a permanent head coach. According to reports from Kooora, Mosimane is at the top of their list of foreign candidates. The club’s decision-makers are reportedly eager to bring in a manager with continental pedigree and strong leadership qualities—boxes Mosimane ticks emphatically.
The former Bafana Bafana coach is no stranger to Egyptian football. During his two-year spell at Al Ahly, Zamalek’s fiercest rivals, he carved out an illustrious legacy, guiding the Red Devils to two CAF Champions League titles, a CAF Super Cup, and several domestic accolades. His tactical prowess, motivational leadership, and experience in managing high-pressure environments have made him a sought-after figure across Africa and the Middle East.
This isn’t the first time Zamalek have shown interest in Mosimane. Previous seasons have seen the club linked with the veteran tactician, but this time the interest appears more serious.
