Pitso Mosimane Urged to Consider Reputation Before Choosing Next Job

Pitso Mosimane has been advised to carefully weigh his next coaching move to avoid further damage to his well-established reputation after a series of short-lived stints in recent years.
The South African tactician built a reputation as a coach who values stability, having enjoyed long tenures at SuperSport United, SAFA, and Mamelodi Sundowns before moving to Egyptian giants Al Ahly, where he spent two years and achieved continental success.
However, since leaving Al Ahly, Mosimane’s career has taken a different turn. He guided Al Ahli Jeddah to promotion in Saudi Arabia before brief spells at Al Wahda in the UAE, Abha in Saudi Arabia—where he suffered relegation—and most recently, Esteghlal in Iran, where he departed amid tensions with the club.
Egyptian football agent Amr Hosni has expressed concerns over Mosimane’s recent career path, suggesting that the frequent job changes could tarnish his legacy.
“Pitso is still held in high esteem here in Egypt as someone who worked at Ahly,” Hosni told local media. “But the reality is that his recent job history does not look good for a coach of his caliber.”
Hosni acknowledged that Mosimane’s salary demands may limit his options, especially if he expects a similar financial package to what he earned at Al Ahly.
“He was recently linked with Zamalek because of the good work he is known to do,” Hosni added. “However, I think he needs a stable project where he will stay long, rather than moving around, as this risks damaging his reputation.”
“Pitso is not a fly-by-night coach. He should consider a national team job or a return to the South African market, where he can work on a long-term project for at least three years,” he continued.
Mosimane’s next move will be crucial, as it could define whether he restores his standing as a top coach or continues his recent trend of short-term engagements.
