Polokwane City’s Lebohang Nkaki Earns Praise After Completing Another Full Season in the Betway Premiership

Polokwane City defender Lebohang Nkaki has quietly but impressively solidified his reputation as one of the most reliable players in the Betway Premiership. The 32-year-old centre-back finished the 2023/24 season as the only outfield player to feature in every league game from start to finish, marking another year of consistency and durability in South African top-flight football.
Nkaki’s season stats speak volumes about his value to the Limpopo-based club. He featured in all 28 league matches, playing every possible minute and contributing four goals from defence—an exceptional return for a centre-back. His performances throughout the campaign have sparked renewed attention, with many within the league beginning to recognize his influence on and off the pitch.
This marks the second consecutive season that Nkaki has played in every league game, although this year he fell just short of finishing every single one, missing a few final minutes in one match. Nevertheless, his record places him among an elite group of players whose work rate and resilience stand out in a demanding league.
Nkaki’s performances come under even greater focus when considering his earnings. His consistency, goal contributions, and leadership at the back have made him a topic of interest among football observers and potentially, rival clubs looking to strengthen their defences.
Elsewhere in the league, Cape Town City’s Darren Keet matched Nkaki’s minutes load from between the sticks. The veteran goalkeeper, now 35, captained his side in several fixtures and kept 10 clean sheets over the course of the league season. Keet, who has been a rock at the back for City, also featured in every game across all competitions, although he was substituted at halftime during a Nedbank Cup match against Sekhukhune United.
Other players with strong appearances records include Nyiko Mobbie, who turned out in every game for SuperSport United but was subbed off in six of them. TS Galaxy’s Sphiwe Mahlangu was ever-present too, but often came off the bench or didn’t play full matches. At AmaZulu, Tshepang Moremi played in all league matches but only completed half of them.
Nkaki’s standout season reinforces the value of consistency and professionalism in the PSL. As the spotlight grows on high-performing players who deliver week in and week out, the Polokwane City defender’s name continues to rise, quietly but firmly, among the most dependable in the league. With another season of full shifts under his belt, Lebohang Nkaki has once again proven he is a player who can be counted on—match after match, minute after minute.
