On the 22nd of October 2022 Orlando Pirates defeated Mamelodi Sundowns 3-0 in their MTN 8 semi-final clash. This led to supporters running onto the pitch in celebration after the match.
PSL prosecutor Zola Majavu has taken a no-nonsense stance on matters of this nature. With Kaizer Chiefs also charged with the same fine.
Amakhosi defeated Stellenbosch FC in their MTN 8 quarterfinal at the Danie Craven Stadium on penalties. Their fans also swarmed onto the pitch in celebration.
The PSL charged Amakhosi with a hefty R200 000 fine, with half the amount being suspended for 24 months, provided that the club isn’t charged with the same misconduct.
“I can confirm that Orlando Pirates Football Club has been charged for spectator behaviour arising from the pitch invasion from the semi-final match between Mamelodi Sundowns and themselves.
“They will appear before the PSL DC on the 14th of November at 10:30. Thereafter I will update you further outcome of those proceedings.” Zola Majavu said in a statement.
