Qatar SC Reach Agreement with Sundowns for Ribeiro Costa

Qatar SC have reportedly secured a deal with Mamelodi Sundowns for Brazilian forward Ribeiro Costa. According to Arabic outlet WinWin, the club is set to announce the transfer soon.
Costa, 26, is expected to add firepower to a side that struggled in front of goal last season. Qatar SC finished 10th in the Qatar Stars League, just two points above the relegation playoff zone.
His performances at the FIFA Club World Cup drew global attention. Costa scored a solo goal against Borussia Dortmund that was later named Goal of the Tournament. That moment sparked interest from clubs including Trabzonspor in Turkey and France’s Saint-Etienne.
Costa’s ability to play across the frontline gives Qatar SC much-needed flexibility. The club has already made several key signings, including Joao Pedro from Al-Wasl, Faiz Selemani from Al-Riyadh, Lukas Kalvach from Viktoria Plzen, and Argentine defender Franco Russo. Spanish coach Marquez Lopez has taken charge ahead of the new season, overseeing a major squad rebuild.
Costa joined Sundowns in August 2023 from Belgian side SK Beveren. In two seasons, he made 88 appearances, scoring 37 goals and registering 23 assists. He was named Betway Premiership Player of the Year and Top Scorer for the 2024/25 campaign.
His departure marks the end of a standout spell in South African football. For Qatar SC, it signals intent to climb the league standings and compete at a higher level in the new season.
