“I’m proud to receive this trophy because it’s from the fans and that makes it an important one for me”, commented the frontman.
Karim Benzema has picked up the 2019/20 Real Madrid Mahou Cinco Estrellas (Five Stars) Player of the Season award. The French forward has made 47 appearances, which have yielded 26 goals and 11 assists, and was instrumental in the Whites’ league triumph. Benzema expressed his thanks for the accolade, which fans voted for via social media: “I’m proud to receive this trophy because it’s from the fans and that makes it an important one for me”.
“I’m really happy and it drives me on to do more out on the pitch. It was a different LaLiga season and that applies to before things happened, during it and at the end. Coronavirus made it the toughest season yet, but we’ve worked really hard. I see the team as being in good shape. We’re working hard and have got a few days ahead of us to keep that up and continue on in the same vein as we did in LaLiga. The Champions League is up next, we know we’ve got an important game and that it’s one we need to win. I’m feeling really good and we’re going to prepare for the Manchester City game as best we can”
