Kaizer Chiefs visited Orlando Pirates in the DSTV Premiership on Saturday. Versatile full back Reeve Frosler believes that this is still a very big match in domestic football.

Many have suggested that the Soweto Derby has lost its pedestal in the domestic hierarchy. Former players have said that the match only survives because of its sentimental value.

This is because of the disparity between these teams and Mamelodi Sundowns. The Brazilians have been so dominant in the PSL that these teams are just not in any position to win the league title anytime soon.

“The only reason people are saying the Derby is watered down is because there are no fans.” Frosler told the Kaizer Chiefs media before the match

“People would not be saying that if there were fans. Because once you see and experience the atmosphere and the game, you will have a different perspective.

“It’s exciting. There is a little bit of nerves here and there, I do not think as many nerves without the fans, unfortunately.

“Hopefully, I get a game and get a chance to do what I do best, but mostly there is excitement and eagerness,” he added.

Amakhosi earned a last-minute victory against Baroka FC last weekend.

“I had a look at the Baroka game as well as my individual moments in the game and where I can get better. While I do look at what I can do better I also look at what I have done well in the game and continue to do it better,” he spoke.
