Spain won their first and only ever FIFA World Cup in 2010. It was a golden generation which produced a golden era.
It was crazy that Spain had never won a national trophy since 2008. At the time, the national team had produced the likes of Raul, Fernando Morientes and Pep Guardiola, but failed to reach any heights.
In 2008, under Luis Aragones, the Spanish introduced a possession based Tiki Taka football. A type of football which had not been seen since the likes of Johan Cruyff.
They entered Euro 2008 as the perennial underachievers. However, no one could come up with the answers for the possession based football.
They went on to win Euro 2008. It was a team with the likes of Iker Casillas, Carles Puyal, Xavi Hernandez and David Villa. These are the few names from a star studded team.
Illnesses forced Luis Aragones to resign from his national duties. In came former UEFA Champions League winner (with Real Madrid) Vicente Del Bosque.
Del Bosque changed very little as Spain came into the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. This is the star studded that defeated Netherlands at the FNB Stadium on July 11 2010.
