Reports Suggest Ndumiso Mabena Took Pay cut To Join Orlando Pirates! The veteran striker recently joined The Bucs.
Ndumiso Mabena allegedly took a lower salary in order to re-join Orlando Pirates. This is because of his desire to play for the Soweto Giants.
The striker had been training with Orlando Pirates since September. His contract with Royal AM came to an abrupt ending, rendering him club less.
Mabena represented The Buccaneers 10 years ago, before he left the club for pastures new. Now, in his mid-30’s, it is reported that had he not been offered a contract with Pirates, he may have retired.
This is why he accepted a lower salary, almost anything, to join his former team.
“He is just happy to be part of Pirates, that’s a fact,” a source told Phakaaathi.
“He loves the club so much and he believes that he can offer them a lot. And that’s besides not playing, he loves the youngsters and sees what coach Jose Riveiro is doing.
“You saw him when we won the MTN8 Cup, he was happy even though he was not playing.
“That just shows how committed he is to the club. He is always leading the songs in the dressing room and that makes him stand out.
“I think that is one of the reasons coach Jose Riveiro loves him. So, for him it is not about money, but playing for a club that he loves.
“He wants to contribute to the success of the team. There is nothing much more, people should just respect the management’s decision to sign him.” The insider revealed.
