In a recent interview with FARPOST regarding her candidacy for SAFA President, Ria emphasized her substantial contributions as an administrator to the vibrant soccer scene in South Africa. “I’m just grateful that I’m not fooling myself that I have contributed. I know, if you come to my office I’ve got more than 21 awards that I received over my period. That tells you the work that I’ve done, you dont just get an award because people like you, you get an award for the contribution that you’ve made to football,” Ria Ledwaba said.

Ria further went on and call on all South Africans, including football legends and politicians to stand together in the journey of fixing football. “To all that are standing up there, legends, everyone, the political parties, I can only say I’m grateful that we can stand together not to support Ria for any other thing, but to support Ria on this journey of fixing football. Making South African football a better organisation again,” she added.

Ledwaba spoke to the media in Randburg on Wednesday, asserting that her ban by SAFA was conclusive proof of the collapse of the football organization in South Africa. “I want to say to South Africans that this [Safa’s ban and sudden withdrawal] is a demonstration of an organisation that has collapsed.”

“They don’t know what they are doing and I don’t even believe that this decision – of declaring me persona non grata, was taken by the NEC. Where and when was the meeting that declared me persona non grata?” She added.
