Richards Bay and Durban City Play Out Goalless Draw

Richards Bay and Durban City ended their Betway Premiership clash in a 0-0 draw at uMhlathuze Stadium on Sunday evening. The match produced chances but neither side found the finishing touch. Each team walked away with a point after a tense contest built on defensive discipline and missed opportunities.
Durban City started fast. Bokang Mokwena created two early openings inside the first five minutes. His movement unsettled the Richards Bay defence but he could not convert the chances. Richards Bay responded with efforts from Wandile Ngema and Thabisa Ndelu around the 15 minute mark. Both players came close but could not find the net.
Durban City lost some of their early rhythm as the match progressed. Richards Bay gained control of possession at the half hour mark and pushed forward in search of the opener. Ngema attempted a long range strike in the 43rd minute but the effort drifted wide.
Durban City created threats on the opposite end. Mokwena and Odwa Nyulu both produced dangerous headed attempts inside the box. Richards Bay survived those moments and the teams reached halftime with the score at 0-0.
Durban City applied pressure again after the restart. Haashim Domingo and Mokwena each missed promising opportunities. Richards Bay sat deeper during this period and absorbed the attacks. Despite the pressure, Richards Bay regained the ball more often as the match entered the final 15 minutes. They struggled to play through the Durban City backline.
Gavin Hunt’s side attempted shots from distance as the contest moved toward the 80th minute. Richards Bay stayed organised and prevented a breakthrough. Both teams pushed for a late winner but neither created a clear chance in the final stages.
The referee ended the match with the scoreboard still unchanged at 0-0. Richards Bay extended their home resilience. Durban City left feeling that early missed chances cost them.
