Roger De Sa – ‘Pitso Is Going To Qatar!’
Roger De Sa – ‘Pitso Is Going To Qatar!’. The former Orlando Pirates coach Roger De Sa has revealed that Pitso Mosimane is heading to Qatar.
Al Ahly announced on Monday that they were parting ways with Pitso Mosimane who brought so much success to the club in just 20 months he spent in Cairo. De Sa who also left his job in Egypt earlier this year as Egypt’s assistant coach looks certain that Mosimane requested Ahly clearance because he’ll be chasing greener pastures in the Middle East.
“Pitso is going to Qatar,” De Sa told KickOff.
“It’s a different league, it’s a different set-up, but the money will be better. His relationship with the Egyptians was a love-hate relationship at times. Pitso is outspoken as we all know, and he will always speak his mind. So he had that scenario, but he did well. I mean, he kept taking the team to the Champions League final. With the most recent final, the fact that it was played in Morocco was probably the reason why he didn’t win it. I think he did an excellent job. I attended many Al Ahly matches, and the supporters were quite good to him. I know some Egyptian reporters were quite negative towards him at times, but you’ll always have some controversy,” he said.
Taking into account that De Sa was also an Egypt citizen, he surely shared some kind of a homie relationship with Jingles and he spoke to him about Qatar offer.
“I did speak to him a few times, and he did mention to me that there was an offer from Qatar that he was considering. I think once he lost the final, that was played in Morocco I think that was the straw that broke the camel’s back. It was time to go. It’s not confirmed yet, it’s speculation from my side but that’s what I think,” he added.
Meanwhile, Mosimane’s agent Moira Tlhagale who’s his wife revealed to TimesLive that Jingles and his technical team are not short of options. Some clubs locally and internationally have enquired about him.
“Yesterday [Monday] I got a lot of calls from different international and domestic [SA] clubs that are interested in coach Pitso Mosimane but it’s important to clarify on the record that we have not signed anything with anyone,” she said.
“Interest is both international and domestic with three local SA teams that want the services of the coach. We have not gone into too much detail with anyone in terms of negotiations. Some of the teams that called wanted to confirm if he has signed with anyone already. This is because there have been reports in the media saying that he has been linked or signed with certain clubs but that is not correct at all.”
