Roger De Sa Turned Down Al Ahly And Zamalek
Two Egyptian giants in Al Ahly and Zamalek were interested in signing Ajax Cape Town coach Roger De Sa, but he did not take the offer. De Sa is the coach that guided Orlando Pirates to their second CAF Champions League final in 2013, the final he lost 3-1 against Red Devils of Egypt Al Ahly.
De Sa speaking during a DiskiNite event in Gugulethu outside Cape Town last night, the 51-year-old revealed that the two North African clubs wanted him although he previously denied the reports as pure speculation. The reigning MTN8 champion with Ajax Capetown, said he is flattered by the interest from Al Ahly and Zamalek.
“I had talks with Zamalek and Al Ahly in the past. It’s very flattering to know that those teams made enquiries, but I said no thanks,” De Sa revealed.
“I made it clear I’d like to stay here in Cape Town for as long as I can with the club.”
Even though he turned down the offers, De sa is known to be a fan of youngsters as he is establishing his name with the Ajax Capetown. Meanwhile, the Ikamva-based club is reported to be looking at keeping the ex-Bafana Bafana goalkeeper on a long-term deal with talks set to resume soon.
