Royal AM Fined R4 Million by The PSL For Abandoning Playoff Matches! The newly formed PSL side is still paying for last season’s wrongs.

The PSL has fined Royal AM R4 million for abandoning all their playoff matches. They were charged R1 million for each of the four matches that they did not participate in.

Shauwn Mkhize and her team caused massive disruptions in the PSL when they opted not to play in their promotion playoffs.

Instead, they bought the status of Bloemfontein Celtic and found their way into the DSTV Premiership.

“The disciplinary matter instituted by the NSL against Royal AM FC arising from the club’s refusal to participate in the 2020/2021 playoffs were finalised on Saturday 21 August 2021. The club was found guilty on all charges of misconduct against it arising from its failure to honour its fixtures against Chippa United FC and Richards Bay FC which were to be played from 19 to 30 June 2021.” A statement from the association read.

“Royal AM FC was sanctioned by the disciplinary committee as follows for its acts of misconduct:

1. All four matches which it was obliged to participate in but failed to do were awarded to their opponents with a 3:0 goal difference.
2. Royal AM was fined the maximum fine in terms of the NSL Rules, being R1 million per match (total R4 million) with R700 00 of each fine (total R2.8 million) being suspended for two years on condition that, during the period of suspension it did not fail to honour any of the NSL fixtures.
3. The club was further sanctioned with a deduction of 3 points for each game not played (12 points in total) for the current season. This deduction is also suspended for one year on condition that, during the period of suspension it did not fail to honour any NSL fixtures and
4. Royal AM FC was ordered to pay all the costs of the sittings in the four matters.”
