Royal AM Forces The PSL To Seek The Counsel Of The High Court! The on-going saga between Shauwn Mkhize has the Premier Soccer League has reached boiling point.

The PSL announced last week that Sekhukhune United are the GladAfrica Championship winners. Thus, they had gained automatic qualification into the DSTV Premiership for next season.

This of course meant that Royal AM would finish in second place and have to contest in the promotion/relegation playoffs. They would go against Chippa United and Richards Bay.

However, Shauwn Mkhize has been adamant that Royal AM will not play in the playoffs and that they should be crowned champions.

As a result of this, the playoffs have been postponed. They were supposed to kick off on Tuesday afternoon (15 June 2021).

Because they have been postponed, they will likely stretch into next season.

“A legal dispute has arisen between Royal AM and the League as to whether the order granted by Nyathi AJ has been suspended as a result of the filing by the League of an application for leave to appeal Nyathi AJ’s order.” A statement released by the PSL read.

“The League contends that the order has been suspended, while Royal AM contends that it has not.

“In the circumstances, the League has elected to:-

1. Postpone the start of the play-offs;
2. Seek the urgent intervention of the High Court.

“Unfortunately that means that Richards Bay Football Club and Chippa United Football Club will not be able to play their scheduled match today.

“The risks to the completion of the season are obvious but in view of the dispute the League has elected to act with an abundance of caution even in extremely trying circumstances for all Member Clubs, their players, and those affected in this matter.

“Our further communication will follow as soon as we are in a position to.” They concluded. Royal AM Forces The PSL To Seek The Counsel Of The High Court!
