Masandawana claimed their 13th consecutive league victory. Defender Rushine De Reuck gave them the lead, from a Gaston Sirino corner. He did however sustain a head injury during the process.
Peter Shalulile scored their second goal, finishing off a typically beautiful Mamelodi Sundowns move.
Junior Traore scored a last-minute penalty to cut the deficit in half, after Dennis Onyango committed a foul in the penalty area.
Rulani Mokwena was asked whether this was a hard-fought win or not.
“I don’t think so, I think [it was clear] only one team on the pitch and huge congratulations to Mamelodi Sundowns, huge congratulations to this fantastic group of players.” Mokwena told SuperSport TV
“I mean how many chances did we create? We could’ve scored so many goals, so that’s why I don’t agree when you say hard fought because I think we made it seem a little bit more difficult than what it was, but congratulations to the entire group. Congratulations to the coaches, congratulations to the Yellow Nation” he concluded.
