Mamelodi Sundowns beat Richards Bay FC 1-0 in the DSTV Premiership yesterday afternoon. Head coach Rulani Mokwena was pleased with the win because of their tough schedule.

Thapelo Morena scored the only goal of the game, in the first half to claim victory for the hosts. The visitors did create a number of clear chances which they failed to take.
“Not a lot of people know how tough this is. Its tough, this is very, very tough.” Mokwena told SuperSport TV.
“The schedule, the travelling, 20 hours. We arrived only yesterday. We don’t speak about these things before kick-off because they say, ‘ah, he’s already preparing excuses.’
“So, congratulations to the Football Club, congratulations. [I’m] so proud of the players, so, so proud of the players.” He added.
The Brazilians suffered a few knocks to some of their players in the encounter.
“It’s the price you have to pay. I am not convinced that rotation is always the best policy, because rotation says, ‘ok, we give a little bit, we lose cohesion, we lose a little bit of rhythm,’ and then it becomes very, very difficult especially in games like this where every game now the opponents are playing for something.
“The opponents are playing to get in the top 8, others are playing to stay away from relegation, others are playing for second spot, so everyone is playing for something. So, the number one buffer is cohesion and what we’ve built from day one of pre-season.
“Like I say, it is so difficult for this group, but in the difficulties, we do what is expected of us. [to] win football matches and congratulations and I’m so proud of the football players.” He spoke.
