Rulani’s View On Ahly Players Taking Off Medals
Following Al Ahly’s defeat to Wydad Casablanca in the CAF Champions League final in Morroco, there was a hot debate on Ahly players who were taking off medals right away when CAF President Patrice Motsepe put them on their necks.
Mamelodi Sundowns co-coach Rulani Mokwena who was an analyst at SuperSport on Monday night explained why Pitso Mosimane’s men were acting so.

“There could be many reasons. One [reason] could be that they are bad loser,” he said.
“Show me a good loser and I’ll show you a loser! And that’s the reality of the situation.
“How many finals have these Al Ahly players played? For them just to be in a final is not an end-goal, it’s not the greatest experience of their careers, it’s just another final.
“But another final they have to win and they wanted to win, because for them it’s also about always participating in the Club World Cup and you could also sense maybe that’s part of the disappointment, that they’re not part of the Club World Cup in the following year.”
Mokwena’s colleague Steve Kompela who’s the senior coach at Sundowns lambasted Al Ahly players for their lack of respect and said they shouldn’t demonstrate pain that way.
“It’s so disgusting watching players given medals and disrespectfully pulling them out of their necks. Lack of respect. Class? No matter how you feel, you must always maintain class, dignity, and respect. So sad, ” he tweeted.
Ahly coach, Mosimane was also disappointed about the results after failing to lead his side to a third consecutive Champions League final triumph. He is still not happy about CAF’s decision to award Morroco the hosting rights while they were playing a Morrocan team – Wydad Casablanca.

“The best team today is the one who lost,” said Mosimane as quoted by IOL.
“We can only talk about winning or losing when we play on a neutral ground and when both sides have an equal number of fans.
“I think those who were behind this decision are happy today.”
Asked about the performance of his team on the day, Pitso believes that they had few chances to find the back of the net and singled out some names who missed chances including Percy Tau.
“Some people ask me about the formation and the game plan as we lost,” Mosimane continued.
“I remind them that we used the same formation when we beat Raja in the quarter-finals.
“Football is about scoring goals. Tau and Mohamed Sherif both missed opportunities.”
