S.A football’s reckless spenders

South African footballers have become notorious for spending their income recklessly resulting in some of them becoming paupers when they eventually retire.

Phil Masinga made the headlines when it was reported that he had ended up penniless despite have played in the S.A’s top league as well as in top leagues in Europe including the Serie A.

Teko Modise is another player that has been previously fingered as a heavy spender. According to sources Modise has previously squandered money while partying resulting in the Sundowns player having a car repossessed.

Khama Billiat is considered another reckless spender with close sources suggesting Billiat can spend up to 100k in a single day.

Zvenyika Makonese during his days with Orlando Pirates became notorious for squandering money in night clubs. After hanging his boots Makonese had nothing to show for his career. The Zimbabwean defender is now shockingly a conductor.
