‘SA Football Is In A Crisis,’ Says Sundowns legend Mudau
‘SA Football Is In A Crisis,’ Says Sundowns legend Mudau! The former Bafana Bafana star who is PSL’s second all-time leading scorer with 108 goals says the league does not have enough classic number nines.
“I think we have reached a crisis point and I am not sure how or when the situation is going to change. My observation is that we don’t have quality out and out strikers like Raphael Chukwu‚ Jerry Sikhosana‚ Shaun Bartlett or Pollen Ndlanya who used to stay in the box,” he said.
Unike in his time Mudau’s concern is on the lack of putting in extra effort with the current stars. “I don’t know many players stay behind after training with 50 balls to practice target shooting‚ taking runs on and off the ball and jumping and heading inside the box,” he said.
“Now‚ you have a situation where coaches are forced to convert midfielders into strikers and that is not an easy thing to do‚” he said.
