He now represents Bayern Munich in Germany, after 6 happy and successful years with Liverpool in England. 2022 was also a great year on the pitch for the forward.
Mané captained Senegal to the 2022 AFCON winner’s podium. He also won two trophies with Liverpool, while narrowly missing out on the Premier League and UEFA Champions League trophies.
“Like you said, sometimes I’m a bit shy when it comes to talking about it, but I’m really happy to do what I can for our people and to make things better.” The Senegalese told Didier Drogba on stage.
The Bayern forward look uncomfortable to have all eyes on him on stage, as he was reluctant to speak about his charity work.
Previously, he has said he has no interest in fancy cars, houses, or clothes.
“Why would I want ten Ferraris, 20 diamond watches, or two planes?” he previously spoke.
“What will these objects do for me and for the world? I was hungry, and I had to work in the field; I survived hard times, played football barefooted, I did not have an education and many other things, but today with what I earn thanks to football, I can help my people.
“I built schools, a stadium, we provide clothes, shoes, food for people who are in extreme poverty. In addition, I give 70 euros per month to all people in a very poor region of Senegal which contributes to their family economy.
“I do not need to display luxury cars, luxury homes, trips and even planes. I prefer that my people receive a little of what life has given me.” He spoke.
This is unlike other footballers, who very much like displaying their luxuries. Sadio Mané Receives Socrates Award for Humanitarian Work!
