SAFA Still Chasing Stuart Baxter
It has been said that SAFA are still interested in the service of Stuart Baxter. Baxter has been transforming teams as we have seen through Kaizer Chiefs and Supersport United. He is currently coach of Supersport United the 2016/17 PSL title contenders and Baxter fights till the last minute when he sets his eyes on a title and he has broken his own record of most wins in the PSL in Supersport United by playing 19 games without a loss in a single season.
The South African Football Association have upped their efforts to land SuperSport United’s Stuart Baxter, and are looking to sit down with his club to discuss his future. Baxter has been approached early this year by SAFA but Supersport United were not willing to let Baxter coach Bafana. This is understandable as Baxter is currently in a heated season with Supersport and all PSL teams are not setting their eyes on the PSL title with only 9 games remaining this season.
Bafana Bafana are currently under the leadership of owen Da Gama going into their upcoming friendlies and World Cup qualifiers. The question still remains if Bafana need a local coach who is familiar with SA football and Baxter is the right man for the job as he has been in South Africa and won the league title with Chiefs and might just win the title again with Supersport United and he is the right candidate for the job but that will depend if Supersport let him go.
