Samir Nurković Happy to Finally Get Back on The Scoring Sheet! Amakhosi claimed a valuable win over the past weekend.
Kaizer Chiefs defeated Chippa United 3-1 in the DSTV Premiership on Saturday evening. Striker Samir Nurković was delighted to finally get his first goal of the season.
The Amakhosi striker has been riddled with injuries over the past two years and has seen his goal returns compromised. His most recent knee surgery rendered him unavailable for majority of the campaign.
His return to the first team has seen him finally register his first goal of the current campaign.
“The team prepared very well for this game, and everything went as we had planned.” Nurković told the Kaizer Chiefs website after the match.
“I am very happy to be back on the scoresheet. We just have to continue with this fighting spirit and with this kind of performance and everything will be fine for us,”
The Serbian striker has carried a lot of pressure and expectations on him since the goal scoring exploits of his debut season at the club. He wants fans and critics to calm expectations as he nurses his return to the first team.
“We have to be realistic. I’ve been through some challenging times after surgery.
“I was working very hard on my mental state and on my physique. Things are coming back in the right way once again.
“I just want to do my best in every game and to get back to my best to help the team in the best possible way,” he added.
Kaizer Chiefs will play bogey opponents TS Galaxy in their next match.
“We have to respect every opponent. Football is getting better and better each year; everything is at a higher level.
“We have to look at ourselves and at our own performance, perform to the level we did against Chippa and give the best possible play on the field,”
When they take on SuperSport United on the 16th of April, they will be faced with home supporters for the first time since 2020.
“I personally can’t wait to have supporters and the Amakhosi family back in the stands. They’re like our 12th player and extra motivation for us on the field.
“As soon as we get them back at the stadium, things will be much better for us,” he concluded.
Amakhosi remain in third spot on the table after the win. Samir Nurković Happy to Finally Get Back on The Scoring Sheet!
