South Africa began their 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying with a scoreless draw away to Zimbabwe. Head coach Hugo Broos condemned the lack of attacking threat his side posed in the game.

This was the first game that the Belgian coach took to the side-lines. He watched on as his side failed to create any meaningful opportunities in the game.

It was a very tight game with few opportunities in the match. The coach stresses that they need to score goals to win matches.

“You have to score to win games,” Broos said to the media after the game.

“Today it was not so good offensively and I think we have to work on that in the next weeks and months.

“To win, you have to score, and this was a problem for us today.”

The head coach was pleased with the defensive efforts from the match. Bafana were able to stifle the Zimbabwean attack throughout the match.

“I’m happy about the mentality,” Broos stated.
