Senegal Crowned AFCON Champions After Defeating Egypt In Final! The Indomitable Lions beat the Pharaohs in last night’s final.

Senegal Beat Egypt 4-2 on penalties in the AFCON final last night. They have officially been crowned African champions for the first time in their history.

This Senegalese team has been described as the golden generations for a few years now. This is because of the stature of players which they have in their team.

Going into the match, Senegal had proven that they had what it takes to win matches. This is after a somewhat sombre group stage performance.

They were much better in the knockout stages of the tournament, securely dispatching of their opponents. They were extremely confident going into the final.

Egypt proved that they had mental and physical fortitude heading into the encounter. This is after playing 120 minutes of football in each of their 3 knockout matches leading into the final.

There were questions about their level of fitness, having undergone so much extra time football.

Last night took them into extra-time once again. They became the first ever nation in AFCON history to play in four consecutive knockout matches into extra-time.

This is after an exciting 0-0 draw during normal time. Both sides had several shots on goal, but it was Senegal who dominated the match.

The two protagonists for each team going into the match, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah were the biggest threats for each opposing side.
