Senzo Meyiwa’s Life Serialised In A Book: Decoding 666_9
Slain former Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana goalkeeper, Senzo Meyiwa’s life has been serialised in a book by author, Soweto Mandlanzi. The death of the legendary footballer remains a mystery five years later as no arrests have been made.
Meyiwa was allegedly mistakenly shot during a robbery gone wrong at his then girlfriend Kelly Khumalo’s house five years ago.
Feeling that no progress was being made by the NPA after the police investigated the case, Meyiwa’s family turned to lobby group, AfriForum to take the prosecution forward in trying to bring the killers to book and get justice for the family.
The book titled: Decoding 666_9: The Inexplicable Life Of Senzo Meyiwa, detailing the life and times of the late Senzo Meyiwa has been released for sale to the public and is, said to include, the chronicles between Senzo and his lover, Kelly Khumalo, leading up to the death of the former footballer who was at the peak of his game.
Although the story includes a great deal of his controversial life with Kelly, the author was unsuccessful in getting a hold of her; with the aim of getting her to share her side of the story with regards to how Senzo died.
“To get to the crux of this I’ve interviewed people who were close to Senzo including his wife Mandisa Meyiwa and his friends.”
“Unfortunately I couldn’t interview Kelly Khumalo or her sister Zandile Khumalo.”
“Senzo’s father, the late Sam Meyiwa, knew that a book was being written about his son and was quite excited about it. There are segments that were actually written by him. The book had Sam’s blessing,” said Soweto.
“We’re excited about the book. It was discussed with my father and he gave his approval.” said Senzo’s brother Sifiso Meyiwa
The proceeds from the book sale will go towards the Meyiwa family, including his children and wife because he was the sole breadwinner at home.
The book is available for purchase from the author.
