Fan Reaction To Pitso Mosimane’s Departure!

Fan Reaction To Pitso Mosimane’s Departure! The worst fears of Mamelodi Sundowns fans were met yesterday. Pitso Mosimane was attracted by an offer to coach Egyptian oligarchs Al Ahly. This meant that Mosimane would depart Mamelodi Sundowns after a quite incredible 7 years at the helm.

Mamelodi Sundowns fans wake up to a chilling Thursday morning. The news that Jingles has left the Sundowns ship is still reverberating around the continent. Since joining Sundowns in 2013, Pitso has proved to be the best South African coach ever.

The charismatic former Sundowns striker won 5 league titles in 7 years, including three consecutive ABSA Premiership titles. Memorably, he also won Mamelodi Sundowns’ sole CAF Champions League and CAF Super Cup.

When Pitso joined Sundowns in 2013, the Chloorkop based side hadn’t won any silverware in 7 years. 7 YEARS! This is despite Patrice Motsepe hiring some of the world’s most sought after coaches.

Sundowns had three former F.C Barcelona coaches at the helm, including Dutchman Johan Neeskeens and Ballon d’Or winner Hristo Stoichkov. These great football men failed to leave any sort of lasting impression at Mamelodi Sundowns.

Sundowns only started attaining success when they hired home grown talent Pitso Mosimane. Pitso was able to bring success to The Brazilians when he brought in young South African players. He abolished the Galacticos ways of Mamelodi Sundowns.

He brought in youngsters Bongani Zungu and Keagan Dolly from TUKS and Ajax Cape Town respectively. Pitso also promoted Percy Tau from the youth academy. All three players have since acquired moves to some of Europe’s big leagues after leaving Pitso and Sundowns.

Mosimane continued to bring in youth players from Sundowns such as Keletso Makgalwa and Promise Mkhuma.
