The contract of left back Sifiso Hlanti will come to an end at the beginning of the new month. Taking a pay cut could be the only way he remains at the club.

Hlanti joined Amakhosi in 2021, signing a two-year deal. That contract is coming to an end and the 33-year-old is contemplating his options.

At his age, his value to the club has decreased.

“Chiefs told Hlanti they are willing to keep him for another year only if he agrees for his wages to be scaled down.

“Remember, he’s one of the highest earners there. I know that he’s thinking about taking the offer, but all will be confirmed this week,” a source close to the player revealed to Times LIVE.

“As far as I know he has no other offers at the moment, so chances are he’ll take what Chiefs have offered. He loves the club and feels he still has a lot to offer there.”

His agent added that he will know about the matter by today, as contracts expire tomorrow.

“With all due respect, please allow me not to say anything until Thursday [today]. From Thursday I will be able to confirm what will happen with him and all my other clients,” he added.
