Simba SC Executive Breaks Silence on Kaizer Chiefs’ Interest in Star Forwards

A Simba SC executive has reportedly responded to swirling rumours linking Kaizer Chiefs with a move for two of their standout attackers, Kibu Denis and Jean Charles Ahoua, insisting the Tanzanian club has no intention of selling its prized assets.
Kaizer Chiefs are currently scouring the market for a reliable forward following the recent departure of Ranga Chivaviro. Among the names that have surfaced as potential replacements, Kibu and Ahoua have been prominent, thanks to their eye-catching performances for Simba SC throughout the 2024/25 season.
Both players were instrumental in Simba’s successful campaign, helping them mount a serious Tanzanian Premier League title challenge and reach their first-ever CAF Confederation Cup final. Kibu registered four goals during the continental run, while Ahoua contributed three, highlighting their attacking prowess on the big stage.
The Soweto giants’ interest in the duo intensified after head coach Nasreddine Nabi was spotted attending Simba’s recent league fixture against KMC FC. The sighting raised speculation that the Amakhosi tactician was scouting talent firsthand, with both Kibu and Ahoua believed to be on his radar.
However, any move for either forward may prove difficult. According to The Guardian Tanzania, a Simba SC club official has made it clear that the club is not entertaining offers for their star players at this time.
“We are building a team for long-term success, and that means keeping our most valuable players,” the official reportedly stated. “We are not in the business of selling our best assets, especially not at a time when the team is gelling and showing real promise.”
The strong stance suggests that Kaizer Chiefs will have to look elsewhere unless they are prepared to table a substantial offer that forces Simba SC to reconsider. Both Kibu and Ahoua are seen as integral to Simba’s ambitions in both domestic and continental competitions moving forward, making them difficult to replace.
With coach Nabi clearly exploring East African talent as part of his rebuilding strategy at Naturena, the Chiefs could still pursue negotiations. However, the latest comments from Simba’s hierarchy indicate that any deal will require serious effort and negotiation.
As the transfer window draws nearer, Amakhosi fans will be watching closely to see whether the club can land a high-impact attacker capable of elevating their fortunes in the 2025/26 season—or if they’ll have to shift their focus away from the Msimbazi Reds altogether.
