Simba SC Target TS Galaxy Technical Director Nermin Basic as New Coach

Simba SC are reportedly seeking a new head coach following the departure of Fadlu Davids, with sources indicating that the Tanzanian giants are targeting TS Galaxy Technical Director Nermin Basic. The club is also understood to be considering Stellenbosch FC coach Steve Barker, but insiders suggest Basic is the preferred candidate.
An insider close to Simba told Soccer Laduma that Basic is the frontrunner in the post-AFCON coaching search. “So, there are almost four coaches that Simba are interested in. Two of them are from South Africa: a technical director of TS Galaxy and Steve Barker. As well as one from Algeria, he coached US Monastir, I think so. The technical director of TS Galaxy is number one. He’s a first option,” the source said.
Basic, 42, joined TS Galaxy in June 2024 and has been involved in managing the club’s technical operations. If appointed, he would take over from Dimitar Pantev, whose brief stint as Simba head coach lasted only 60 days after taking over in October. Pantev replaced Fadlu Davids, who resigned to assume the head coach role at Raja Casablanca.
Simba’s coaching search reflects the club’s ambition to stabilize and strengthen the squad following recent turbulence. While Barker remains an option, Basic’s familiarity with South African football and his technical experience appear to make him the top candidate.
Attempts to reach Simba SC for comment were unsuccessful at the time of publication, leaving the club’s decision pending. The post-AFCON period is expected to provide clarity on who will lead the Tanzanian side into the new season.
