Siyabonga Ngezana recently signed a three-year contract with Steaua Bucharest in Romania. He has been officially unveiled as their latest acquisition.
The defender spent the past seven seasons at Kaizer Chiefs, making 123 appearances and scoring six times. He famously scored on his debut against Mamelodi Sundowns.
“Welcome, Siyabonga Ngezana! FCSB announces the transfer of Siyabonga Ngezana, a player who played until the end of last season for Kaizer Chiefs, in the first league of South Africa.” The club announced on their social media pages.
“The 25-year-old defender, who will wear the number 30 shirt, has arrived at the Red-Blues’ training camp in the Netherlands and will begin training alongside his new teammates.
“Siyabonga Ngezana was born on July 15, 1997, in South Africa and started his football career at Sinawana Gunners and Orlando Pirates. At professional level, he performed throughout his career for Kaizer Chiefs, amassing 123 appearances and 6 goals.”
Ngezana himself admitted to knowing very little about the club before he joined them.
“I was happy, I told my family that there is interest from a team from Romania,” he spoke.
“We followed the history of the team first then we discussed it with my agent, and I said yes, why not. I had some offers from Sheriff, but we ended up signing with FCSB and this is the best decision that I took.” He added.
The defender will participate in the UEFA Conference League in the upcoming season. Siyabonga Ngezana Unveiled as New FC Steaua Bucharest Player!
