Kaizer Chiefs Renew Interest in Tanzanian Striker Clement Mzize Amid Striker Search

Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly revisiting their interest in Tanzanian forward Clement Mzize as they continue their hunt for an experienced striker.
Mzize, who previously played under Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi at Young Africans SC in Tanzania, has emerged as a potential target once again. Sources close to both the player and club say Chiefs are considering him, but face stiff competition from clubs in Egypt, Morocco, and Qatar.
Offers have reportedly come from Zamalek, Al Sadd, Al Masry, and Wydad Casablanca. Zamalek and Al Sadd have made the most concrete moves, with bids close to $900,000 (around R16 million). Al Sadd’s proposed salary is said to be about $30,000 monthly.
The main challenge for Chiefs remains their absence from CAF Champions League football. This reduces the appeal for players like Mzize, who seek continental exposure. Chiefs’ connection to Mzize through coach Nabi is seen as a possible advantage, given their past relationship.
With complications surrounding Etiosa Ighodaro’s potential move from Mamelodi Sundowns, Chiefs are reportedly turning back to Mzize as an alternative option. This is not Chiefs’ first attempt to sign the striker, but recent setbacks have renewed the focus on him.
Kaizer Chiefs have not responded to requests for comment. Yanga SC president Hersi Ally Said confirmed Chiefs have not sent an official communication regarding Mzize, leaving the nature of any talks unclear.
The situation remains fluid. Chiefs must act quickly to secure a striker before the new season begins. The competition for Mzize is strong, and formal negotiations may be crucial in determining his next move.
