South Africa sports media personality Minnie Dhlamini Jones has launched a grassroots sports initiative, Sports Goes Rural run through her foundation #MinnieDlaminiFoundation whose major aim is to identify, nurture and develop talent in soccer, rugby and netball amongst underprivileged kids.
The sports initiative is designed to teach underprivileged children sport and life skills so that they can tackle varied challenges head on as they interact with personalities from all walks of life.
Dlamini took to her Instagram page to announce and share the news launching her sport initiative whose major thrust in the long run will aim to develop future sports stars and champions in the mould of Springbok Rugby captain Siya Kolisi, Tendai “Beast” Mtawarira, Makazole Mapimpi and Teko Modise to cite but a few who have succeeded through persistence, determination, self-belief and stoicism to overcome adversity, poverty stricken backgrounds and tragic circumstances to make it to the top of the sporting world.
“#MinnieDlaminiFoundation has launched a brand new initiative called Sports Goes Rural we develop sports skills in Rugby, Soccer & Netball by sponsoring underprivileged children with a sport program”
” We develop their skills from a young age and integrate them with children from all walks of life. We unite and grow through sport. Cheers to my future Champions” said Dlamini on Instagram.
These role models have gone on to lead better lives that become an inspiration to kids around the world and become a true reflection of the power of sport to change the world in a positive manner.
Sport is indeed a beacon of hope to change livelihoods for the better as it curbs anti-social behavior amongst children whilst offering a holistic approach towards full development of the child.
Some Instagram users were fully supportive of the decision taken by Minnie to change lives of underprivileged children through sport, a powerful force in contemporary society.
