Stellenbosch FC Announce Triple Signing as Gavin Hunt Rebuilds Squad

Stellenbosch FC have confirmed the arrival of three new players as head coach Gavin Hunt begins reshaping the squad. The Western Cape club announced on Tuesday morning that Mosa Lebusa has joined permanently after leaving Mamelodi Sundowns, while Tshegofatso Mabasa and Kobamelo Kodisang have arrived on loan from Orlando Pirates and Sundowns respectively.

The announcement comes just a week after Stellies unveiled Hunt as their new head coach following Steve Barker’s departure to Simba SC. The timing underlines the urgency at the club, with Stellenbosch FC sitting 14th on the Betway Premiership table after managing only three wins from 14 matches this season.

Club CEO Rob Bernadie described the signings as a clear statement of intent. He said the club and the new coach are pleased to secure players of the calibre of Mabasa, Kodisang and Lebusa, who they believe can help achieve remaining targets for the campaign. Bernadie stressed that while the deals are short term, the impact is expected to be immediate.

All three players bring top level experience and have represented South Africa at international level. Bernadie highlighted their winning mentality and understanding of elite competition, qualities he believes will lift standards within the squad and support the club’s ambitions both domestically and on the continent.

For Hunt, the trio offers balance across the pitch. Lebusa adds experience and leadership at the back, Mabasa brings proven goal scoring ability, and Kodisang offers pace and creativity out wide. Their arrivals give the coach options as he looks to stabilise results and move the team away from the relegation zone.

The new signings could make their debuts when Stellenbosch FC return to league action against Sekhukhune United on January 20, 2026, following the AFCON break. With pressure mounting, the focus now shifts to how quickly the trio can adapt and help spark a turnaround in Stellenbosch’s season.
