Kaizer Chiefs Coach Nasreddine Nabi Reflects After First Defeat of the Season

Kaizer Chiefs suffered their first defeat of the Betway Premiership season against Sekhukhune United, with Bradley Grobler scoring twice and Thabang Monare adding a third. Sekhukhune United’s use of long balls exposed gaps in Chiefs’ defense and punished mistakes.

Coach Nasreddine Nabi acknowledged the challenges of the match. Speaking through assistant coach Cedric Kaze, he said there was no reason to panic. He emphasized the importance of learning from errors and approaching upcoming games with focus and conviction.

Nabi admitted defensive lapses cost Chiefs. He highlighted issues on transitions and long balls and noted that mistakes in this game were uncharacteristic compared to earlier matches. He stressed the need for a strong reaction and maintaining composure for the next fixtures.

Chiefs’ upcoming schedule will test their resilience. They travel to Luanda, Angola, for the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup first round against Kabuscorp at Estadio 11 de Novembro on Saturday. The team will then return to host Marumo Gallants in the second leg.

Nabi underlined that preparation and concentration are critical for both domestic and continental challenges. Chiefs now aim to recover quickly and avoid repeating the defensive errors that led to their first loss.
