Steven Pienaar Announces Retirement From Football! It’s the end of an era for the former Bafana Bafana and Everton star. After spending half a season at Bidvest Wits, Pienaar was a free agent before announcing his retirement on Wednesday.

Taking to twitter, Pienaar who turns 36 on the 17th of this month thanked his family and fans for their support in his football journey.

“Today I’m announcing my retirement from football. I just want to say thanks to my mom and my family and all the clubs that I’ve played for and the supporters of course, thanks for the love throughout my career. There’s an announcement coming soon and you’ll be the first to know,” Pienna said in a video posted on his twitter account.
