Sundowns and City Share Spoils
It was a great evening, with great weather conditions and Lucas Moripe stadium was filled to capacity but that was all tabled for a goalless draw between Mamelodi Sundowns and Polokwane City. Sundowns looked to bounce back to winning ways but it was not the evening to be.
Sundowns dominated the first half, but Leonardo Castro, who has made four goals this season, failed to score and chances were blown away. Percy Tau could not absorb the pressure to score and he kept on hitting past the goal. Polokwane City were not in the game and Kennedy Mweene looked to be on holiday in the opposite goal. Mweene, produced a great save to deny Musona from Polokwane City.
The game could be defined as, ‘should have been, could have been, would have been’ but nothing materialized for Mamelodi Sundowns who will remain 5th in the league with 34 points and 5 games in hand. City are now 6 on the league with 27 points. Despite not having a coach, Polokwane City maintained focus and discipline.
