SuperSport United Captain Dean Furman to Call It Quits At The End Of 2019/20 Season

Absa Premiership side and MTN 8 winners SuperSport United will lose captain and one of their experienced cadres Dean Furman who is very much eager for a return to his former overseas base after his contract expires at Matsatsantsa at the end of the season.

Furman left League One side Doncaster Rovers in 2015 after a two-year spell before joining Matsatsantsa while winning 56 caps for Bafana Bafana and he has indicated that this season will mark the end of his five-year spell at the club.

“My contract is up at the end of the season and the thinking is to go back overseas,” Furman said.

“I haven’t had a talk with SuperSport. But I think they know my position and mostly at the end of the season, I’ll be going back overseas.”

The veteran midfielder has led the Tshwane side to the MTN8 glory this term as well as lifting the two Nedbank Cup trophies but his main focus is on lifting the PSL title.

Moreover, the Cape Town-born midfielder has also helped the club reach the final of the Caf Confederation Cup in 2017.

Furman has featured in 18 games across all competitions so far and is fully focussed on the job at hand before the season ends as SuperSport United occupy second place 10 points behind log leaders Kaizer Chiefs.
