SuperSport United have bolstered their defensive options with the acquisition of Buhle Mkhwanazi. The 2016/2017 league winner will finally return to topflight South African football.
Mkhwanazi spent the previous season (2020/2021) away from DSTV Premiership football. He last played for Bidvest Wits in the 2019/2020 season.
“Buhle brings us maturity, character and leadership at the back where the void of Clayton Daniels, Bongani Khumalo and Grant Kekana has left us thin in terms of experience.” SuperSport United CEO Stanley Mathews told the club’s media department.
“Buhle knows what is required to win trophies at an ambitious club like ours with his success at Wits and we think he will add value to the team and positively impact our younger players in the squad.” He concluded.
After Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila procured the PSL status of Bidvest Wits, Mkhwanazi did not relocate with the new team to Limpopo. Instead, he spent the previous season as a free agent.
This was extremely surprising when the pedigree of the defender is considered. He will be looking to earn a place at the national team once more.
